Glenn Beck Compares Obama and Afghanistan to the Nazis

Dec 02 2009 Published by under Featured News

On his radio show today Glenn Beck brought back his Nazi fetish this time while talking about Obama’s decision to send more troops to Afghanistan. Beck said, “If we would have said, we are going to go into Normandy, then we are going train those French, Hitler would have laughed.”

Here is the audio from Media Matters:

While talking about the decision to increase troops in Afghanistan, Beck said, “It is in our vital national interest to win…Try this for size, we’re not doing this, but this doesn’t even make sense. Imagine if Eisenhower would have said, wow, you want me to land on the beaches, D-Day. Alright, I’m going to need everything we got, and the president comes out and says it’s in our vital national interest that we give it, well not everything we got, we’re going to send a few more people over, but then we’re coming home.”

This led to the inevitable Nazi comparison, “Do you think the Nazis would have fought so hard on Normandy? Do you think they would have said hold them, hold them, hold them? If we would have said, we are going to go into Normandy, then we are going train those French, Hitler would have laughed.”

First of all the Taliban aren’t the Nazis, and the United States is not fighting a world war. Beck and company completely omitted Obama’s qualifier on future troop withdrawals. Obama said that if conditions allow it the troops will start to be withdrawn in 18 months.

Beck wants the US to stay in Afghanistan forever. What kind of solution is that? At some point the US has to leave, and the Afghans have to take over. The point of this mission is to stabilize the country so that al-Qaeda doesn’t set up operations there again. Beck seems to have forgotten that al-Qaeda is the reason that the United States is there, not the Taliban.

Glenn Beck Claims that Saturday Night Lives Makes Him Paranoid

Nov 30 2009 Published by under Featured News

On his Fox News program today, Glenn Beck was standing at his chalkboard trying spell California, when he said, “Saturday Night Live makes me so paranoid.” Something tells me that SNL isn’t the only thing that makes Beck paranoid.

Here is the video courtesy of Media Matters:

Standing at his chalkboard, Beck said, “This is a little place I like to call, Calif-ornia. Saturday Night Live makes me so paranoid now, I like Cali, I gotta write. This is where it affects you.”

This isn’t the first time that Beck has been a bit paranoid about SNL. In October, Beck claimed that the program was out to Sarah Palin him.

We can now add SNL to the list of things that make Glenn Beck paranoid. This list already includes black presidents. Although that one can probably be expanded to black people in general, labor unions, art, and movie theaters. It would appear that there is little in this world that doesn't make Beck paranoid.

I don't know if it is such a good idea for Beck to announce, even in a joking way, that SNL makes him paranoid. This just seems like it would be opening him up for even more ridicule on Saturday Night Live, which will in turn make Beck more paranoid, and result in more SNL comedy.

Donny Deutsch Calls Beck and Limbaugh Circus Acts, and Lou Dobbs a Racist

Nov 30 2009 Published by under Featured News

Donny Deutsch was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning, and in response to a new poll that found that Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are the most influential conservatives in America, he said, “These are all entertainers. They’re circus acts.” Deutsch was asked about Lou Dobbs, and he said Dobbs is a racist.

Here is the video courtesy of Media Matters:

While discussing the results of the poll, Deutsch said, “That’s an impressive foursome. That tells me if I am a Democrat I am very happy.” Jim Cramer pointed out that they should use book sells to measure popularity, and Deutsch replied, “Jim, there is a difference between being a popular media figure and an electable candidate, and you’ve got to start to make that distinction. These are all entertainers. They’re circus act, and will they be elected, no.”

Jim Cramer asked Deutsch if he thought Lou Dobbs was an acceptable candidate. Deutsch answered, “Uh, I don’t think so actually. I don’t think so. Maybe because he is a racist is pretty much the reason why.”

The person in charge of the censor button at MSNBC must get very nervous when Donny is on the air. Remember, the last time Donny was on Morning Joe he called Rush Limbaugh a douche. Deutsch doesn’t pull any punches, and I really it would be great to see him back on the air on a nightly basis.

His point about the results of the poll is right on the money. Democrats are giddy when they see Limbaugh, Beck, Cheney, and Palin listed as the four most influential conservatives in America, because none of those four are electable. Each of them makes the GOP appear more out of touch and extreme.

Right Wing Media Bias and the Assault on Journalism

Nov 28 2009 Published by under Featured News

Gone are the days of smoky newsrooms and journalists that are committed to facts. They have been replaced by 24 hour cable news networks and right wing infotainers, who give partial treatment to GOP talking points and illogical rhetoric. The result of this is that journalism being undermined by right wing media bias.

There once was a time when you could watch the morning and evening news and gain a real sense of what is happening in the world of politics. Those were the days of Walter Cronkite, Tim Russert, and others like them. You could actually trust the news you were receiving. You could formulate your own opinions based on the facts. Substance was actually mandatory. Fact checking appeared to precede reporting.

Opinions were not relevant or promoted. Tim Russert was known for his extensive and intense approach to research and he did this prior to relating the news story or interviewing a political figure. It was considered the real test to getting the inside scoop on what the interview would be able to reveal and it scrutinized the truthfulness of the political figure. Walter Cronkite was known for being trusted to consistently deliver the truth to his listening audience. You could take that to the bank. Taking pride in their journalistic credibility, these anchors reported the news the world needed to know and they did it without bias.

Watching the news today can be nauseating and poisonous to a person’s sense of wellbeing. For me, it’s as if someone has put something in my food that did not belong there, and it makes me very ill. And then I find out that there wasn’t anything put into the meal of any substance and the ingredients had been recycled from a restaurant with a bad rating.

This is especially true of many of the cable news outlets. You hear more opinions than actual facts. Most of the networks supposedly attempt to bring all sides of a political view. But because of the ratings war, the reporting has turned drastically away from journalism and gone full force toward capitalizing on sensationalism. Lou Dobbs, who suddenly departed CNN, is an example of an opinion journalist. His news stories were often based off sensation.

Who can point this out better than popular talk show host Jon Stewart? Here is his interview with Lou Dobbs:

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c
Lou Dobbs
Daily Show
Full Episodes
Political Humor Health Care Crisis

Partial treatment has been given to the GOP talking points and illogical rhetoric. They have been truly the party of NO. So what do the networks report? They run the Republican talking points all day and all night. Even if you don’t watch much news, you are bound to get a dose before your day runs out. The average person watching the news assumes that any political interview on the networks by GOP politicians or pundits must represent the truth or it would not be allowed.

CNN fact checkers with opposing information show up after the interviews have run again and again. Very few people even see the fact checkers’ results unless it is reporting on the Democrats missteps. Now there are two news reporters that don’t fall into this category, and I must give props where props are due. Rachel Maddow and Keith Oberman of MSNBC, both do their research and do their best to report the facts and confront those who are obviously not being truthful. They are not presenting their opinions as the news.

And Katie Couric should be applauded for THE interview with Sarah Palin. She has been the only person who interviewed Palin to truly test her substance or lack thereof.

The Oprah Winfrey and Barabara Walters’s interviews were not able to cut through the “bull”. They were taken in by the celebrity and her non answer answers shedding very little light on the real Sarah Palin who is on a campaign for power and wealth in this country, while playing victim to the media as her substance.

There appears to be a campaign in place to embarrass, disrespect and weaken the Obama administration by the news networks by utilizing the PR messages of the GOP like Palin, Cheney, Beck, Dobbs, Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan, Right Wing Conservative Extremists, Tea Baggers, etc. As an example, the news coverage of the healthcare Reform meetings in August was ridiculous. It only confused the American audience who had legitimate health care concerns. It was irresponsible journalism.

The good, the strengths and the accomplishments of this administration are not discussed with any real consistency. It’s not news worthy. The disrespect shown to the highest office in the land is incredible. It’s ok, as Americans, to disagree with the administration’s policies or to push for change. It’s ok to have anxiety about the deficit, the economy, or job loss.

But it is not ok to disrespect or deliberately embarrass the President, especially when Obama did not create the situations that we find ourselves in. But he is responsible for trying to resolve them and that is what the nation, the news networks and journalists need to understand and have some patience and faith in our system that we have fought long and hard to uphold.

The Bush/Cheney administration was given eight years to nearly destroy all respect for this nation. President Obama has been given less than a year to regain it. Let us as American citizens press the news outlets and anchors for more truth and less sensationalism. Many rules were broken by the previous administration. How can they along with the main stream media afford to be so disrespectful of the President?

We don’t have to agree with the the President of the United States of America, but we must respect the highest office of the land. If we don’t, how do you expect any foreign government or news agency to do so?

Glenn Beck Compares Himself to Martin Luther King

Nov 25 2009 Published by under Featured News

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck began to lay the groundwork for his big political movement of 2010, which includes a march on Washington, D.C. on the anniversary of the civil rights march, by comparing himself to Martin Luther King. Beck also implied that the Democrats opposed the civil rights movement.

Here is the audio courtesy of Media Matters:

Beck was defending himself against charges that he is anti-government by claiming that he is battling to protect the rights of the American people just like Martin Luther King did, “How many times do I have to say peaceful? As Martin Luther King did, was Martin Luther King, was he anti-government? Well, he certainly took the government and turned it upside down now didn’t he? He totally transformed the parties in this sys in this government. If you remember right it was Robert Byrd who was filibustering against the civil rights movement. Yeah, nobody really remembers that.”

He continued, “If the government is going against the rights of the people. If the government in this country is violating the constitution or reinterpreting the constitution, it is not our right, it is our responsibility to speak out against it.”

It is laughable that Glenn Beck’s ego has grown so large that he thinks that he is on par with the greatest civil rights leader in the history of the United States. In his own mind, Beck is Martin Luther King. He is leading a group of angry white people who believe that their rights are being taken, yet they can’t tell you what rights they are losing.

The “right” that they are most upset about is their belief to the right to be in power. They have not lost any of their constitutional rights. Beck can pretend to be Martin Luther King, but he never will be, because he isn’t trying to be. His sole purpose is to fan the anger of the right, which in turn makes him more money. The irony here is that by giving Glenn Beck such a giant platform, Fox News may have sowed the seeds of the Republican Party’s demise.

Beck and Limbaugh Call Sen. Mary Landrieu A Whore Because She Voted for Healthcare

Nov 23 2009 Published by under Featured News

On their respective radio shows today Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh went on the attack against Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) because she voted for advancing the healthcare debate forward in the Senate. Instead of criticizing her position on the bill, both Beck and Limbaugh took the lowest possible road by calling a female US senator a prostitute.

Here is the audio of Beck courtesy of Media Matters:

Beck accused the Senate Democratic leadership of bribing Landrieu to get her vote on healthcare, “We’re with a high class prostitute. That’s what we’re with…You’re not sittin’ there in a back alley and sayin’ hey what do you say, five bucks? No, no, no this comes to your Four Seasons hotel room and does it right. There’s nobody that’s going to look at her and say oh my gosh you’re with a whore…”

Here is the audio of Limbaugh, also from Media Matters:

Limbaugh said, “That may be folks, that may be, the most expensive prostitute in the history of prostitution, and she’s bragging about it. Mary Landrieu bragging about a $300 million payoff from Dingy Harry to get her vote on this healthcare scam on Saturday night.”

The “prostitution” that Beck and Limbaugh are so outraged by is actually a grant to help the state of Louisiana cover Medicaid costs for the poor. The notion that Landrieu herself is benefitting from this deal is completely false. It is convenient for Beck and Limbaugh to also forget that these kinds of deals were common place when Republicans were in the majority. The Republicans frequently used both grants and tax breaks for corporations and industries in specific states to sway votes.

The idea that Mary Landrieu is a whore is strictly sexism. How would Beck and Limbaugh react if their beloved Sarah Palin was labeled a whore and a prostitute because she decided to quit the post that the votes of Alaska elected her to in order to sell books and make money? They would be outraged by the notion that Palin is a whore, but it is fine for them to call a sitting US Senator, who got funding for the poor in her state, a whore.

If Mary Landrieu was a man, would she still have been called a whore? I doubt it. This sexist attitude is one of the reasons why the GOP is going to continue to struggle to attract a majority of female voters. There are lots of conservative women out there, but many Independent and Democratic women are pushed away by such sexist rhetoric, at a time when the Republican Party needs to attract more voters, instead of pushing them away.

The Republicans Extremist Dilemma

Nov 21 2009 Published by under Featured News

I have been following the news all weekend and I think the Republican Party has a real problem on their hands. I am reminded about the saying “You created this monster now do something about it” All these left wing nut cases are about to be too much. I am sure that when Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh and the Republican Party psyched these people up with their distortions and lies they had no idea that these narrow minded bigoted people would follow them to the extreme that they have.

Here is Frank Schaeffer of The Huffington Post talking about the dangers of right wing rhetoric on The Rachel Maddow Show:

Visit for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy

So now all these people have been associated with the Republican Party. What’s a party to do? They can’t totally walk away from them because it is better than 50% of their support base. Then they can’t totally embrace them either. They could do what the congress lady from Illinois did last week (and what the Republicans have been doing all along) you know talk out of both sides of your mouth at the same time or you could just man up and be honest.
The Republicans Extremist Dilemma

Nah these are Republicans we are dealing with. So they trot out their party chairman Micheal “stephin flechet” Steele to come out and try his best to distance the Republican Party from them.

This man is got to be the biggest joke and a major disappointment to Black people everywhere. So how do they defend themselves now? These nutcases and their 2nd amendment right to bear arms are going to go too far one day and somebody is going to get seriously hurt. It’s bound to happen. Then what will be Beck Limbaugh and thee Republicans excuse going to be? These southern rednecks are really taking over the Republican Party and they are literally driving it into the ground.

Sarah Palin Floats Glenn Beck as a Possible 2012 Running Mate

Nov 18 2009 Published by under Featured News

In an interview with Newsmax, Sarah Palin floated Fox News host Glenn Beck’s name as her running mate for 2012. Palin said, “But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He’s a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way.” Apparently, Palin’s qualifications for a running mate include that they be a “hoot.”

Palin chuckled when asked about the possibility of a Palin/Beck ticket and said, “I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I’m not there yet. But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He’s a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he’s so bold – I have to respect that. He calls it like he sees it, and he’s very, very, very effective.”

Are we to believe that Palin would seriously consider Beck as her running mate? She doesn’t want some credible conservative, or a policy expert. No, Sarah wants a running mate who is bold and a hoot. Is there anyone out there who can still be possibly wondering why most of the political world does not take Sarah Palin seriously?

Democrats would be doing somersaults at the very prospect of a Palin/Beck ticket. It would be a dream come true for them, while also nuking what remains of the Republican Party. I can see Palin blaming Beck when on Election Night the ticket gets 24% of the vote.

If Palin is looking for a running mate who is a hoot, maybe she should also consider Jeff Dunham. I sure his puppets would keep her in stitches for hours on the campaign trail.

Glenn Beck Compares Healthcare Reform to Roman Polanski’s Statutory Rape

Nov 16 2009 Published by under Featured News

On FNC program tonight Glenn Beck compared healthcare reform to the statutory rape committed by Roman Polanski. Beck said, “We’re the young girl saying no, no help me, and the government is Roman Polanski.” I think the victims of rape would disagree with Beck that passing a healthcare reform bill is just like being raped.

Here is the video from Media Matters:

Beck was talking about healthcare reform when he said, “America has spoken clearly, consistently, we don’t want this, and for the first time in history, we don’t think it’s the government’s place to give it to us…We are excuse this analogy, but I feel like it’s true. We’re the young girl saying no, no help me, and the government is Roman Polanski. In the end, I think we’re all going to be cowering in France.” Beck pulled out the standard conservative distortion that America can’t afford healthcare reform.

Once again, Glenn Beck has managed to ignore all of the polling data which shows that a majority of Americans support healthcare reform. Beck has it totally backwards. The people aren’t saying no, no. They are saying hurry up and get this done. Only in right wing bizzaro world is healthcare reform unpopular with a majority of Americans.

Notice how when right wingers talk about healthcare reform, they always mention the cost, but leave out the long term savings, which is their way of presenting a deeply distorted picture.

Speaking of warped views, I am certain that any victim of rape would not only be insulted by Beck’s analogy, but they would also confirm that the passage of a healthcare reform bill is nothing like being raped, but this exactly what we have come to expect from the uninformed, tasteless, and juvenile Beck.

Glenn Beck Continues to Spread Lies About the Healthcare Bill

Nov 14 2009 Published by under Featured News

Glenn Beck was on FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor on Friday, where he continued to spread lies and falsehoods about the healthcare reform bill. Beck is still claiming that under the bill, people who don’t buy insurance will face jail time. This is not true. The penalty for not buying insurance is an additional tax. No one will go to jail.

Here is the video:

Here is Beck and O’Reilly’s exchange courtesy of Media Matters:

O’REILLY: Couldn’t they do [liposuction] at the same time [as your appendectomy]?

BECK: No, they wouldn’t. No. I don’t have universal health care.

O’REILLY: Well you will soon.

BECK: Or I’ll go to jail.

O’REILLY: Are you going to be a conscientious objector to health care?

BECK: You know, this is the first time in history in our country where, just to be a citizen, just to not go to jail, you have to buy something.

According to Media Matters, “If a person does not have acceptable health care coverage, Section 501 imposes a tax on that person “not to exceed the applicable national average premium.” Beck’s claim is absurdly false, and he should know better if he read the bill, as he claims. This is example number 724, 642 of Glenn Beck’s lack of concern for facts. Yet, this is the man who is positioning himself as the champion of a new conservative party.

Maybe Beck can recruit Palin to lead his new party? She has already admitted that she is a big fan of his. Although it is no shock that she gets so many things wrong, as she relies on Glenn as an honest source of information. Despite Beck’s lies, the healthcare bill will pass, and he will use it as a platform to champion his third party.
