Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) apologizes to Dr Elizabeth Warren for the disrespectful treatment she received from committee chair Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) during a House Financial Services Subcommittee meeting yesterday. After the way Patrick desperately maligned Elizabeth’s character, he should be on his knees begging forgiveness but of course, he achieved his goal of smearing her via blatantly false innuendo — after all, she’s an advocate for consumer protection! We can’t have that.
Must call her a liar while they defend the clear and obvious lies being told on their side of the aisle every day to the very Americans who elected them (“we’re ‘reforming’ Medicare, not killing it”). This is how they deal with the fact that they don’t want anyone to be in charge of consumer protection….Just think…..someone might monitor what Wall Street does. Shiver me timbers, Republicans are watching campaign donations twist in the winds. How proud they must be.
I give up on Republicans. And that reminds me, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz, who used to be a right wing radio show host and commentator, was rightfully suspended today for five days for calling Laura Ingraham a “slut”. Someone has to tell Ed that we don’t roll that way over here. Liberals are expected to at least pretend to eschew misogyny and to that end, know enough to be ashamed when they behave poorly. Shame on you, Ed. Everyone knows that Laura is a hate-mongering bigot, not a slut.
Ah, but Ed’s apology was sincere and might serve as a model for adult behavior for Fox News. Heck maybe some of the Republicans might learn how to say they are sorry and demonstrate some character when they call women “whores” or are shown to be racists, instead of claiming they are being “satirical” when they sell “Obama waffles” at their conventions. At least Ed separated the waters clearly. We try not to travel among repugnant, ill-mannered folks who pretend not to know the difference between wit and bullying.
Here’s John Yarmuth, demonstrating some insight and class that is so sorely lacking on the kill-Medicare side of the aisle:
Republican men: Showing American women contempt for a living.
Patrick McHenry shamed both North Carolina and his mother yesterday. He acted as if he were raised in a barn with no supervision right along side that other rag-tag petulant shouter, Joe Wilson. What’s happening with the Republican men of the Carolinas? Have they no manners, no honor anymore? I hope he isn’t running as a Christian.
He’s hearing plenty of backlash for his unseemly, ungentlemanly behavior on his Facebook page. Americans seem to like Dr Warren and the little boys on the right should heed that warning.
