The GOP has a bad habit of demonizing the salaries of public school teachers, private sector union labor, police, firemen, and janitors. They will also almost unilaterally defend oil and gas subsidies along the salaries and profits of major corporations and banks. For example Exxon/Mobil who made $383 billion in 2010 from $310 billion the previous year. The CEO Rex Tillerson of Exxon/Mobil is making 27,168,300.

The American taxpayer is forking over billions of dollars to this industry. All the while conservative Republicans and some conservative Democrats are closing schools, raising property taxes on working families and small community businesses. The American people are not only forking over money to this oil industry at the pump and in our homes, we are forking over billion through our own property taxes and income taxes.

“The budget President Obama submitted to Congress last month proposed repealing $3.6 billion in oil and gas subsidies – subsidies that come in the form of tax credits – in 2012. The White House estimates that repealing those tax credits would bring in $46 billion in revenue over the next 10 years.” -According to ABC News.

Representative Barton can be heard below defending subsidies for his oil industry. It’s really disgusting how much this guy is in the tank for one of the most profitable industries in the world and at the same time cutting back on programs that help women, infants and children.
