Michele Bachmann Wants To Regulate Gay Marriage But Not Light Bulbs

Michele Bachmann hates the government that she wanted to become a part of so bad when she ran for office.  She believes the government should be strangled and not interfere with personal family choices.

Well, she believes this at least when it comes to light bulbs in your homes.  According to the Star Tribune of Minnesota, Representative Michele Bachmann is reintroducing her signature “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act,” a reincarnation of legislation that went nowhere when the Democrats were in charge.

“The government has no business telling an individual what kind of light bulb to buy,” Bachmann said in a statement Wednesday. “This mandate has sweeping effects on American families and businesses and needs serious consideration before taking effect.”

Really?  You don’t believe the government should be involved in personal family decisions, Ms. Bachmann?  How about Gay marriage?  Why do you suppose the government should regulate marriage in our Country?

Isn’t that a family decision?  Michele Bachmann has been a defender of government intrusion in our homes when it comes to gay marriage for a while.  Just recently when President Obama decided to no longer defend the constitutionality of DOMA, Ms. Bachmann went haywire.

According to Politico,

Michele Bachmann is fundraising off President Obama’s decision to no longer defend the constitutionality of a law banning federal recognition of same-sex unions.

Just hours after the president’s reversal on a Defense of Marriage Act provision, Bachmann, who is considering a White House run next year, blasted an e-mail to supporters.
“I’m sending you this urgent message because if we don’t join together and take action today, it could be a crushing blow to the traditional marriage movement”
MARRIAGE IS ABOUT PERSONAL FREEDOM
The idea of phasing out incandescent bulbs in favor of  flourescent bulbs reduces energy consumption thus reduces pollution.  It’s a benefit to all Americans. That is the role of government.
Forcing the federal government to discriminate against a sector of our society in defense of your morality is not the role of the federal government.
