Ava the Tea Party News Avatar

Why?

I think we can agree that this is a bit of digital magic that should never have seen the light of day. Be warned: the creepification factor is high. The Tea Party evidently felt it needed an icon more approachable and appealing than Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, someone more human, “real” and intelligent-seeming. The result is Ava, who also isn’t real and who also doesn’t know what nobody bothers to program into her, and who is probably equally untroubled by issues of morality and honesty:

What the Tea Party folks are thinking, we can only speculate. As we are told by Christian Newswire,

Tea Party News Brief, LLC, headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, is the nation’s first nonpartisan news service for the Tea Party Movement. The Tea Party News Brief launches the News Brief Animated News Show to provide weekly policy analyses on the 112th Congress for the Tea Party Movement. This weekly animated news program can be seen on www.teapartynewsbrief.com. This week’s episode is “State of the Union Night.”

Can’t wait to see what they bring us for an encore.
